Living and working here gets you access to something called a KITAS. It’s the ID card that proves our eligibilty to work and, once you have one, it takes the place of your passport in proving you are who you say you are.
It means that when you travel, you just have this flimsy piece of photogrpahic proof but the look that it inspires in the people you’re talking to, that you choose to live and work in their country is always priceless.
